Salesperson / Quarry

Rock of Ages, a division of Polycor, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Salesperson to join our team. As our local salesperson, you will be responsible for selecting and or selling quarry rough stock to our local manufacturing customers. You will oversee our local trucking and arrange deliveries with our customers. Your primary goal will be to meet local sales targets, build strong customer relationships, and contribute to the growth and profitability of our company. Job Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- General: Marking of quarry rough stock to remove defects, overseeing the grading of quarry rough stock and recording/reporting of daily production and sales. Manage the deliveries of our local truck driver, experience with D.O.T. rules and regulations preferred.
- Customer Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, prepare and process adjustments on rough stock purchases as necessary, ensuring excellent customer service throughout the sales process.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the quarry materials, their applications, specifications, and pricing. Stay updated with local industry trends and competitor offerings to effectively communicate the value of our products.
- Sales Targets: Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and revenue objectives on a regular basis. Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans to maximize sales opportunities and achieve sales growth.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the quarry operations team to ensure an adequate supply of materials, coordinate delivery schedules, and resolve any customer issues or concerns. Collaborate with internal teams to optimize sales processes and customer satisfaction.
- Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data, and provide daily records of production/sales activities. Provide accurate sales forecasts and contribute to the development of sales budgets and targets.
- Inventory Management: Assist with maintaining inventory levels, managing and organizing stock, performing physical counts, and ensuring inventory data accuracy. Our ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and has a strong attention to detail.
- Data Entry: Responsible for the daily data input to ensure it is done accurately and efficiently into computer systems or databases. Verify and review data for errors or inconsistencies and make necessary corrections. Organize and maintain data files as well as perform data quality checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Sort, compile, and process data to generate reports, charts, and other documents. Retrieve and extract data from various sources or documents as required.
- Administrative Duties: Perform routine clerical duties such as dealing with queries on the phone or by email, organize and schedule meetings, type letters and reports, arrange post and deliveries.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proactive and organized sales professional with a hands-on approach and a strong attention to detail. You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment and enjoy balancing customer interaction with operational oversight. Your drive for results and ability to build trust with clients makes you a key contributor to growth and service excellence.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with inventory systems and basic data analysis tools.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in sales, preferably in the construction materials or quarry industry, is highly desirable.
- Product Knowledge: Familiarity with quarry materials, their applications, specifications, and pricing is advantageous. Willingness to learn and stay updated with product knowledge is essential.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using sales management software and Microsoft based software.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to meet customers and prospects.
- Language Skills: Speaking French is a is plus for this role.
- Sales Skills: Strong negotiating, execution and follow-through required. Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information and build rapport with customers.
- Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated with a proactive and results-oriented approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve customer issues and handle objections effectively.
