A Visit to ROCK OF AGES is a Vermont Experience Like No Other
We invite you and your family to experience Rock of Ages: visit a granite quarry nearly 600 feet deep, watch our artisans at the factory as they cut, sculpt and polish, view our video, explore our exhibits, browse the gift shop, bowl on our outdoor granite lane and make your own stone gift at our sandblastactivity center. Affordable Fun in the heart of Vermont.
Rock of Ages and the Barre granite industry are known the world over for the durability and beauty of Barre granite and the quality of our craftsmanship. In the last quarter of the 19th Century, thousands of immigrants came to Barre in search of new opportunities in Barre's bustling granite quarries and manufacturing sheds (factories).
Immigrants from many countries arrived, contributing their artistry, their culture and their traditions to Barre. These diverse ideologies mingled with then-established Yankee traditions, transforming the tiny hamlet of Barre into a cosmopolitan center of trade and industry. We invite you to experience our industry, our artistry and our cultural heritage.
The fun begins at our VisitorsCenter, the gateway to your Rock of Ages experience. View our movie, explore our photographic timeline and exhibits, browse our gift shop and get your ticket to tour the world's largest deep-hole, dimension granite quarry nearly 600 feet deep.
Then tour our factory to watch our craftspeople. Our sculptors and artisans will amaze you.
Once you've seen it, you'll want to TRY IT! Make a great family memory while you create your own stone souvenir gift at our sandblast activity.
And don't forget to bowl a few frames on our outdoor granite lane or pick out your souvenir piece of granite from the grout bin.
Please note that our hours and dates of operation have changed for 2009.
