Our lovely Vermont Visitors Center is your tour starting point. It features electronic kiosks and historical exhibits as well as a video presentation and a GIFT SHOP. Additionally the grounds surrounding our Vermont Visitors Center are dotted with interesting memorials and statuary and the world's only (to the best of our knowledge) outdoor granite bowling lane. Be sure to bowl a few frames while you visit--it makes a great, FREE family activity. And don't forget to grab a FREE sample of granite from our grout bin during your visit.
GUIDED VERMONT QUARRY TOUR--For safety and other considerations, the only way to see our quarry is by guided tour. Operates May 24 - August 31, Monday-Saturday, 9:15-3:35 (Runs Sunday May 26th) Operates September 1 - October 18, Monday - Sunday, 9:15-3:35 (Closed July 4th)
Tour times may vary, but departure times are usually as follows: 9:15 am, 10:00 am, 10:45 am, 11:30 am, 12:40 pm, 1:20 pm, 2:05 pm, 2:50 pm and 3:35 pm. The 40-minute tour normally operates rain or shine; however, the tours may be delayed or cancelled due to extremely inclement weather.
Please note that we believe you will find our quarry site to be quite spectacular and will enjoy your tour whenever you come, BUT the workers typically work 7-3:30 Monday-Friday. On the 3:35 tours and all weekend and holiday tours our workers are NOT usually working in the quarry. Traditionally, the industry takes a vacation the week of July 4th. Our tours operate that week, but workers are not usually in the quarry at that time.
TOURS OF OUR VERMONT FACTORY--Our Vermont factory is open for self-guided tours Monday-Friday, 8-3:30. The factory is not open weekends or holidays.
At our Vermont factory, watch our artisans cut, polish and carve stone, creating masterpieces of memorial art. Our factory is a fascinating juxtaposition of old and new technologies, featuring sculptors carving stone using techniques virtually unchanged since the days of Michelangelo (except that a pneumatic chisel is used rather than a mallet and chisel) working beside modern laser etchers and computer-aided saws.
We hope you’ll pay us a visit when in Vermont. Please see our Tours & Activities section for all of the pertinent details about dates and times of operation.
