Job Description                                                           

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Build, troubleshoot and repair industrial controls, instruments, production machinery and related equipment by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – other duties may be assigned: 

1. Troubleshoot machinery failures:
   1. Electrical hardware
      1. Sensors, wiring
      2. Computer
   2. Software issues
2. Troubleshoot data systems:
   1. Data collection
   2. Network
3. Install new control systems:
   1. Machinery
      1. Cabling
      2. Mounting panels
      3. Wiring
      4. Startup
   2. Data collection
   3. Network
4. Build control panels:
   1. Mounting hardware
   2. Wiring
5. Programming:
   1. PLC
   2. PC
6. Assist with mechanical aspects of plant and quarry maintenance.
7. Order parts
8. Research new technologies in the control field

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or no less than 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Must have strong PC skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.  Must be able to read Visual Basic source code and program structure.

• AC DC circuit fundamentals
• CNC fundamentals
• Open/closed loop systems
• Servo systems
• Input devices such as encoders, potentiometers limit switches and proximity switches
• Electro-mechanical devices such as motors, valves and actuators
• Pneumatics and hydraulics
• PLC principles and programming
• Relay ladder logic
• Digital and analog circuits
• Transducers and converters
• Interface types including RS232, RS485, USB, Ethernet, IR and 802.11x
• Wiring practices as applicable to control systems

Other Qualifications

Must be willing to work overtime, including some weekends.  Must have a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb ladders; balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
